The Study of Soul Patterns
"You
are born with about seventy-five percent of your life predetermined by
your past. You will make up the remaining twenty-five
percent. If you yourself, through your own free choice and effort
of will, do not determine what that twenty-five percent will be, the
seventy-five percent will make the twenty-five percent for you, and you
will become a puppet. That is, you will be ruled absolutely by
your past, by the influence and effects of your past tendencies."

The

The
above quote by Yogananda refers to the concept of reincarnation. It is
said by many great minds that the soul returns over and over again in an
effort to improve itself, to reach perfection, and ultimately union with
God. The following article is based on those principles and assumes that
the reader already has some grasp of these concepts. For further reading
on the subject, please refer to my earlier article on 'Enlightenment'.
It is assumed that each individual wants to achieve enlightenment, consciously
or unconsciously. When a soul has achieved this advanced state of
consciousness and no longer needs to reincarnate on the Earthly physical
plane, they do not cease to exist as unique beings. Rather, they
incarnate into a higher, more refined, purer dimension in order to further
their evolution at that level.
Souls
are spheres of consciousness, made of etheric Light substance of the universe,
of God energy. Souls are 'pure being', in a transparent
non-physical form. All souls began in the same way, and are made of
the same stuff--energy. It is said that a soul wants to experience
physical existence, and in that way it is able to further its evolution
quicker than by remaining simply soul essence in the higher
realms. But we have some free will and the ability to
make good choices or bad, to evolve or re-volve, to be here on the
Earth-plane for now or
forever, and to use that energy in whatever way we wish. So,
though all souls have been created equal in the beginning, all are not equal now in
terms of development. All souls have the potential to be great
souls, and it is entirely up to the individual. It is not about
our parents, environment, or genetic makeup. It is
about the choices we make in each incarnation. It is about our priorities. It
is about the commitment we make to ourselves to be a better person.
It is about slowing down often enough to recognize our direction, and
our gifts, and to acknowledge our weaknesses--and transform them into
strengths. It is about developing honorable character through many
lives. And it is about our energy and where we choose to direct
it.
Energy
is what we are made of. All souls have the same amount of energy
at their disposal on the other side. However, newer souls usually incarnate with all or most
of their energy, leaving very little on the other side with their Higher
Self. They may want or need all this to survive, or just to party, or
play sports, or to be a fighter. As a result they rarely have
access to higher knowledge because that requires a good strong link to
their Higher Self. Souls can choose to use up their energy in
a basketball game, or in meditation, or in arguments. Older souls
come into this life with far less of their energy, preferring to have a
stronger link to spirit and intuition than to the material world. As a result,
they are the seers, the meditators, and the spiritual adepts of earth.
They are not the athletes or the activists or the party animals--the two
do not go together. Younger souls opt more for physical
expenditure of their energy; older souls opt more for spiritual use of
their energy.
Consciousness is energy. So is a basketball. Our choice.
Each
soul is unique. Each one has incarnated many times--anywhere from once to millions--and each
has learned different lessons from each lifetime. Some
souls--those who have just come to earthly existence and are 'new' to
life on earth, have a very different goal than those who are nearing
completion of their earthly journeys and have been here for several
thousand rounds on the wheel. Each important lesson learned in
incarnation helps to elevate the soul's frequency, and thus their
spiritual evolution and spiritual understanding. The
purpose of life on earth is multifold, depending on where the soul is on
the scale of one to ten.
NEW
SOULS often have
the agenda of just surviving and may be born into areas where survival
is difficult. The aura of new souls (baby souls) is a light
whitish-gray. They are ruled by the root chakra--survival.
They may be victimized and powerless because they are the babies and are
easily taken advantage of. Through this treatment they will assume
characteristics that may be good or bad. Some will become fighters
or return the abuse in order to try to survive; others will stay in
victim-mode for a long time. Others, those who learn well, will
use their experience to help others in similar situations. There are always choices to be made,
and we need to use every ounce of the awareness available at each level
to make good choices. Good choices, by the way, are always good for all;
not just good for one. They may not be 'liked' by everyone, but
ultimately right action will generate higher frequency for everyone.
Integrity is crucial at all levels of evolution. It is more of a
challenge at the lower levels because of the soul's newness and
unfamiliarity with the laws of the universe in physical form.
AVERAGE
SOULS who have a
few hundred--or a few thousand more lifetimes (depending on whether they
are a quick study or not)--will have developed sufficiently to actually
change their aura color. They are now a light grayish-yellow. As
their soul-qualities develop, through many more lifetimes of experiences, their color
turns to a clear yellow. Over 90% of souls who are incarnate on earth now
are in this yellow color range. Yellow souls are beginner souls.
They see life as being about having fun, getting their piece of the pie,
burning the candle at both ends, success, fame, money, power, and basically self-indulgence.
They are the children of the planet, even though they are the vast majority. Their interests will be physical in nature, including
sports participation & observation, fighting, anger, greed and lust.
They are governed by the second and third chakras--sex, pleasure,
emotionalism, power and control, and are ruled by Mars. In a
nutshell, they seek to indulge their senses on the physical plane. Average
souls seek out other average souls, thus supporting and furthering their worldly ways.
These souls need the company of others to a greater degree than any of
the other souls. They can be born into any of the Sun-signs, but
by planet emphasis, they are more likely to have a prominent Mars, have
many Mars-ruled planets, and/or be born into the first four to eight signs of the
zodiac (the 'child' and 'adult' signs).
MATURE
SOULS develop
after many thousands more incarnations. This soul has learned that they
are not here to simply survive, or to indulge themselves, but to help
others along the way. Their aura has become yellowish-green to
clear green. They often turn to professions of healing and
counseling--true healing and not the kind that is simply intended to
generate cash-flow. They are concerned about the
environment and an advocate for 'going green'. This soul has
become more self-sufficient, more understanding of life, and has less
need for the peer groups of the previous level. These souls have
elevated their energy to the heart chakra and they feel true compassion
for Mother Earth and earth's people. They are governed by the
need to help. These souls gravitate to others of like mind and
similar evolution, as do the previous groups, but for different
reasons. These souls benefit from the sharing of holistic
knowledge in order to further their own skills and thus help
others. They also find their like-minded colleagues to be somewhat
of a buffer against the harsh outer world. These souls are
beginning to feel energies around them and some will see entities and
other Light-form beings. At this level of development, souls
become sensitive to discordant energies and will begin to retreat
somewhat from earthly activities and the masses. These people are few in numbers... perhaps 5% of the
population.
ADVANCED
SOULS come about
after thousands more incarnations. Here the soul has elevated their
frequency to the blue aura range. These souls gravitate to areas of
spiritual study and higher understanding. The true aspirants may
choose to be spiritual teachers, recluses, gurus, and
saints. These souls have inherent spiritual knowledge, gained from
past lifetime experience. They are drawn early in life to meditation
techniques or spiritual practices, and virtually all of them are on a
committed spiritual path that is their priority in life. They are peaceful
people with great integrity and honesty. They have many skills and
abilities--earthly and intuitive--due to lifetimes of learning. These souls inhabit
bodies that may live next door to you, and they are often deliberately
scattered among the less-evolved souls in order to help uplift the masses
with their energy of purity. They often have severe tests and
challenges because in this group, one lifetime will ultimately be their last
earthly incarnation. They
are here to 'wrap it up' so to speak, and in so doing, have chosen to
take on the balance of their karmic debt. It is important to note
that many will try but some will fail at this level. The tests are greater at
higher elevations and it is easy to fall from grace as one ascends the
ladder of enlightenment. In this range we find approximately 1% of
1% of the population. There is always some overlap as souls
develop, thus we may see some who aspire to higher learning but
continue with old soul-level patterns of behavior. This is not
uncommon, and we need to be tolerant of those who try but do not succeed--yet, for they are in transition from the previous level of
soul-development. They may spend many lifetimes in transition.
Souls in this Advanced group prefer a great deal of solitude in life, particularly as
they grow older and wiser, and have dealt with much of their
life-purpose. They find the energy of the masses to be tiring and
harsh, and will choose to be apart from them. At this level, the soul
longs for union with its Higher Self and just being in physical form is often
a great challenge.
GREAT
SOULS are those
who have reached the highest level of enlightenment possible in earthly
existence. They have an aura in the purple range. They have
been here a long time and have learned so much from their lifetimes,
that their purpose here is simply to keep the frequency of earth's
inhabitants from deteriorating. They have no personal agenda; they
have a universal mission.
They have done it all, lived everywhere, in every form, died in every
way conceivable, and they have no desires for further earthly life.
They have learned well, and thus broken the bonds of reincarnation and
have no further need to experience earthly life. They long for
union with God. They serve in this lifetime by being teachers of
the highest knowledge. In this category we find the greatest of
avatars such as Christ, Buddha, Mohammed, Krishna, and many others who
have done this work in silence and solitude and are not known to
humankind. These souls are invariably misunderstood by humanity in
general because their frequency is so far above the masses. Their
higher frequency indicates greater soul purity and greater soul-energy,
earned through lifetimes of hard-learning. Energy always flows
from higher to lower, like gravity, and so these pure souls
automatically will lose energy and take on (purify) a lot of the baggage
of those less evolved around them. So, because they take no joy in
commingling with average souls, and because they will spontaneously
absorb those lower stresses, and because they are literally not on the
same wavelength, they do better by being in solitude.
Soul
traits--and the level of evolution of each soul--is represented in each birth
chart, though it may not be easy to see. Astrologers who are only
focused on mundane earthly life and worldly pursuits will not be able to
evaluate or even recognize the more spiritually-advanced person's chart.
"We can only perceive what we can conceive." Thus
if an astrologer is at the yellowish-green soul- development level, they
are not equipped to see that which is in the blue range above their horizon. Nor is
anybody at all able to see that which is above their own level. It is always easy
to see the past, where we have been, and where we are now. It is
nearly impossible to comprehend places we have never been, frequencies
we have not yet achieved. {A few people can, however, and they are
known as 'visionaries'. Nostradamus was one such person.}
An
advanced soul, through observation, and with the tools of astrology, will
be able to identify other advanced souls by their chart patterns.
"Like attracts like". It is easy to recognize a soul
at one's own level. But those are not the souls who need help and
guidance. The baby souls and the children souls are those most in
need of guidance and help. Sometimes an advanced soul will fall, due to temptation or
adversity or seduction of the dark side, and these souls also need help.
The catch, however, is that even though a soul may need help in reaching
their highest potential or alleviating a bad situation in their life,
they are not necessarily eager to learn. That is because most
people, largely those souls in the 'average' and 'baby' group, identify
themselves through their ego, their lower self, and that part wants its
own recognition, regardless of right or wrong. They have no
awareness of their Higher Self of the purpose of existence, so are completely
identified with their physical form.
