Mantra Meditation

Nothing
outside yourself
can save you;
nothing
outside yourself
can give
you peace.

Contemplation....concentration....mulling it over....think on it....relax....  We often use these phrases to define those few moments when we seek to sort something out.  Our mind needs this peaceful space in which to clarify thoughts.

Daily stress builds up when there is no release mechanism.  After years of stress on the job, in relationships, and through raising children, we can feel overwhelmed.  Soon dis-ease sets in.  It is not merely the 'aging process' which causes people to feel sick or tired or strained.  It is the accumulation of stress.

Sleep removes some stress, but it is not nearly enough to make us feel completely at peace.  It is not nearly enough to release the huge accumulation of stress or the illnesses that arise due to this stress.  One needs a technique which will allow the mind to settle to it's deep inner calmness.  If we think of the mind as an ocean we can see that it is only the surface which is turbulent; the deeper levels of the ocean--and our mind--are very still.  Mantra meditation is a technique which allows the mind to settle to this place of calmness which, over time, becomes a permanent state.

There are many types of meditation and some work better than others.  Using a mantra is the quickest and the simplest way to do this.  A mantra is a Sanskrit word which has no particular meaning but which has a soothing frequency.  Just as some sounds in Nature are calming and others are disturbing, a mantra is a positive, life supporting tone.  There are hundreds of mantras in existence, and a suitable one will be chosen for the individual, by a qualified meditation teacher.

The short-term results of regular daily meditation are: less stress, enhanced creativity, improved productivity, improved social skills, and better health.  Long term meditators, however, will notice a profound increase in consciousness.  Awareness of one's higher self develops, intuition grows strong, chronological aging slows, compassion and humanitarianism reach higher and higher levels.  In other words, one evolves very rapidly.

Mantra meditation is simple, easy, and effortless, when taught and empowered by an experienced teacher.  One is completely free and independent in their practice and does not need to have contact with any group.  Meditation is not a religion; rather it is a technique such as sleeping or exercising, thus it complements all religions and beliefs. Anyone can learn to meditate in this way and all can grow and develop to their maximum potential within this lifetime.

Mantra meditation develops the human potential.  We become happier and more peaceful within ourselves.  We become more productive and have more resources to put into our goals.  We become non-aggressive and content, but not complacent.  We become strong and grounded and self-aware.  When we stop to think about all these qualities it becomes obvious that if everyone in the world meditated.... we would have world peace.

*  Mantras are Sanskrit invocations of God.  Strengthened by meditation and chanting, they pass from the verbal level through the mental and telepathic states, and on to pure thought energy.  Of all languages, Sanskrit most closely approaches telepathic language because of its affinity to the fifty primeval sounds.  It is the most direct way to approach the transcendental state.  It is said that a person who is enlightened, and thus free of karma, speaks a word in Sanskrit--say 'table'--that the image of a table will appear to any others who are enlightened.  Such is the purity of the vibration of Sanskrit.

Mantras have always existed in a latent state as sound energies and are not newly conceived.  They were revealed to the ancient masters in their state of Samadhi, or deep meditation.  Mantras, once chosen, should not be changed.

  • Mantras are energy-based sounds.
  • Mantras create thought-energy waves.
  • Mantras are tools of power and for power.
  • Mantras have close, approximate one-to-one direct language-based translation.
  • Mantras have been tested and/or verified by their original framers or users.
  • Mantras are energy which can be likened to fire.
  • Mantra energizes prana, the life-force that courses through us.
  • Mantras eventually quiet the mind and results are accumulative and permanent.
