Natural Healing

"Everything is made of energy", Albert Einstein. 'Everything' means all solid, liquid, or gaseous substances. It means those things which we cannot see such as oxygen, microwaves, ultraviolet waves, television and radio frequencies. It also includes such things as our thoughts, emotions, moods, intentions, reactions--in other words, everything about us.

Ever since Einstein discovered that E=mc2, we've known that matter is energy.  Since energy is nonphysical by nature, nothing is really solid.  Everything on earth, including the earth itself, breaks down into atoms which break down to smaller particles, which break down to even smaller particles, which eventually break down to nothing.

Scientists are now saying that our reality appears to be a giant thought form.  Many Eastern religions call this thought-form 'Maya' or the illusion of reality.  Its like watching a movie in a theatre and thinking what you see on screen is real, when it is nothing more than a play of light and sound for your entertainment.

Since our thoughts are made of energy that implies that they have an effect--upon ourselves, and upon others. If they be positive thoughts like love, compassion, prayer, or healing, they will do us and those close to us some good. If our thoughts become angry, jealous, vengeful or in anyway negative, they will have a consequent negative effect upon our health, our surroundings, and on others in our mental, emotional, or physical environment. This means that if we think badly of someone, even if they be thousands of miles away, we may have a negative effect upon them--unless they have special skills of protection and great strength of character to protect themselves. The very first effect to come from negative thoughts however, is upon ourselves. We do our minds, bodies, and emotions untold damage by indulging in any form of negative thought, word, or deed.

There are many reasons why one may come down with cancer or Alzheimer's, for instance. Yet modern medicine is now recognizing the enormous part played by our own thoughts and behavior patterns. If we do become ill, or are born with some disease, we can still work towards better management of the condition by keeping our thoughts positive and caring for our bodies in the best way we know how.

Because surgery and drugs do not always cure a condition, we find that a large part of society is turning to natural healing. There is a feeling of truly taking our health and healing back into our own hands (empowerment) by learning what works for us and what does not.  To understand the importance of one's thoughts, to recognize the significant contribution of good nutrition, fitness endeavors, stress-release techniques, and energy work protection, can significantly improve one's life.

Here I will present a synopsis of various health, healing, and spiritual techniques that are designed to help the mind, body, emotions, and soul. I have had personal training in many of these fields and there are some which I teach or present as online information. I do not claim to be an expert in all of these, for that is not possible. My intention here is to help others to help themselves, and I do this through presenting ideas, techniques, reference material, and services.

There are six distinct levels of healing and each may be effective depending upon the nature of the illness and the attitude of the patient.

1.  The most basic--or grossest--form of healing is through surgery.  For some people, and for some diseases this may be the only recourse, but its side effects are the most traumatic to the body.

2.  Slightly up on the list is healing in the form of prescription drugs.  They may work in some cases, or merely cover the problem in others.  Most produce undesirable side effects.

3.  Next up on the list is energy healing through sources like homeopathy, flower essences, gem elixirs, etc.  These natural substances must be ingested to effect a cure or improvement in the patient's condition.  Side effects are little or none.

4.  Higher yet is healing through magnets.  Magnetic therapy helps align meridians, chakras, and general energy flow in the body.  The only side effects might be from over-stimulation of the nervous system through over use.

5.  Up on the list is healing by hands-on energy, such as new age healing, metaphysical healing, pranic healing, or psychic healing .  Here, the patient is helped by spiritually guided energy channeled by a practitioner.  When enough energy is received by the patient--which can take from one treatment to several--there is not only healing, but a total body improvement in emotions and mental state.

6.  The highest form of healing comes from thought energy.  A good example of this would be Reiki distant-healing.  A practitioner may send this energy to someone clear across the planet (with a first name to guide to source) and facilitate a complete or partial healing.  No physical contact is needed, nor is a diagnosis required.  Energy seeks the areas where there is a lack--or vacuum state--in the individual, and fills the void.

There are numerous forms of natural healing available to us today. Many of these techniques are age-old practices that worked then...and work now.  Before one gets to the point of needing to fix a problem, some guidance in prevention is always good.  Fresh air, exercise, adequate sleep, and good nutrition form the basis of health maintenance.  Since most of us have a pretty good idea of what constitutes a balanced diet, I will discuss some of the less known aspects of food consumption.  Building the immune system is fundamental to all health and healing.

Blue-green algae supplements are one of the best means to do this. When under heavy stress take more than usual and your body will respond by coping better.

Coffee is a legal, addictive, stimulant (if you think you are not addicted try going without it for a few days).  It elevates blood pressure, puts holes in our energy field, and keeps one on a 'feel-good high' which prevents the realization of potential health or attitudinal problems until they have already manifested.

Garlic is nature's antibiotic.  Fresh, and in its raw state garlic can kill viruses and parasitic infections, build the immune system, and promote better elimination of toxins.  It is an excellent first 'remedy' for a flu or cold. Though garlic is an excellent therapy for illness it brings heat and stimulation to the mind and is therefore not recommended as a daily food for those on a spiritual path (meditation, etc.).

Meat, fish, poultry, and eggs provide a good source of protein but for spiritual seekers the energy required to digest such heavy foods takes away from the effectiveness of meditation techniques. These foods are, therefore, not recommended for seekers.

Tofu provides an excellent protein alternative and in addition it contains natural hormones, making menopausal transition easier. Estrogen levels remain consistently high in women who eat tofu regularly.

An excellent cold remedy can be made easily out of 1 tablespoon of grated fresh ginger, the juice and grated rind of one fresh lemon, and 3 cups of pure water.  Boil this mixture for 1/2 hour.  Drink the whole batch gradually throughout the day.

Alcoholic beverages put holes in our aura, making us more psychically vulnerable to thought-intrusions as well as physical illness. One beer or one glass of wine will not do serious damage but the effects are still accumulative.

Potatoes, rice, bananas, oranges, coconuts, and clarified butter (ghee), all provide soma, a subtle substance in the body of spiritual adepts. High levels of soma are present when one is in an advanced state of consciousness, thus eating foods which help to build soma can make us feel better.

Herbs have been the healing mainstay of ancient cultures, curing many of the ailments which are still around. Calendula was often used to heal wounds, parsley to bring on a late menstrual period, or arnica to treat shock. Today herbs may be used in their natural state or refined into poultices, tinctures, salves, or teas.

Homeopathy has taken herbs and other natural ingredients a quantum leap further by potentizing through a precise method of dilution and secussion. These highly diluted natural substances ironically become much more powerful than the original herbs, yet contribute no side effects. Healing of acute conditions like the flu can be extremely fast and efficient. Chronic conditions such as arthritis, tendonitis, migraines, or asthma, may take longer to effect a cure because the disease has traveled deeper into one's system.  A few good first aid remedies to keep on hand might be:  Symphytum 200 CH, for nerve trauma such as one might receive in a whiplash accident, Arnica 200 CH for sudden pain or trauma, Rhus Tox 30 CH for poison ivy (also good for Fibromyalgia, at the 200 CH strength), Belladonna 30 CH for flu, Pulsatilla 30 CH for colds with runny eyes and nose.

The use of essential oils has become very popular lately. These highly concentrated oils made from herbs and flowers have strong medicinal properties which can be used for everything from skin care to soothing sore muscles. They may be used topically when diluted with a carrier oil or combined with water and sprayed into one's aura. Most cannot be ingested. Lavender oil is particularly good in home made body lotions; mandarin and basil can help relieve depression; eucalyptus oil is effective in clearing the energy of a room.

Flower essences are another derivative of the herbal approach to health maintenance. In the 1930's Dr. Edward Bach, a medical doctor, began to experiment on himself with various flower essences. He discovered that each flower had a specific energy and it could be used to heal certain conditions. These tiny vials of energy contain a minute amount of the original essence of the flower, diluted and preserved in an alcohol base. Only a drop or two is needed to start the process of balancing the mind, body, and emotions. The Bach Flower Remedies are the most popular though there are many other varieties available now.

Acupressure and acupuncture are techniques designed to remove blockages from the meridians of our body. When energy becomes stagnant along these channels disease may result. A skilled practitioner who knows the pattern of these energy lines will apply either gentle pressure or an acupuncture needle to the blocked area, releasing the energy and restoring health. It may require many treatments to effect a cure but the results will be well worth the wait. Among other things, acupuncture has been successfully used to treat allergies, chronic bronchitis, depression, and even to eliminate all pain during dental work. Acupuncture needles are very fine and are inserted into the skin at a shallow depth, thus this process is virtually painless, yet effective.

Crystals hold, magnify, and focus energy--including thought energy. These properties allow us to use crystals to balance, align, and release energy patterns which may be counter-productive to good health. One can do everything from relieve migraine headaches to actual spirit release work. Though crystals are beautiful to look at they are much more than objects of adornment and must be treated with respect.

Gem elixirs are much like flower essences but made with gemstones and crystals instead. The process is simple and anyone can learn to make and use these substances quickly and easily. Gem elixirs are more powerful than crystals so must always be used sparingly. The science of Ayur Veda promotes using minute granules of powdered crystals but this must only be done on the direct advice of an Ayur Vedic physician. The principle is always the same however: eliminate the energy block and the problem will begin to dissolve.

Faith healing is an old term used to mean the placement of one's hands on another person with the intent to heal. Today we may see the terms psychic healing, spiritual healing, energy healing, new age healing, metaphysical healing and so on. Essentially they all mean the same thing though an individual practitioner may add or subtract elements into the concept. The principle of such healing is that of energy transfer. We all have energy thus we all have the capacity to transfer it--BUT one must not, intentionally or otherwise, give their own vital force. To do so may help someone else but at the expense of the practitioner. Some people are born with this ability to transfer energy and others learn it. Either way, it requires knowledge to successfully use energy for good and to not fall sick by giving away one's own.

Pranic healing is a specific form of energy healing. Results can be spectacular in the hands of an adept, but it generally takes years of dedicated spiritual practice to become proficient. The downside is that if one does not know what they are doing they may cause harm, therefore expert instruction is vital.

Therapeutic Touch is another form of energy work and healing. There are specific guidelines to this approach and results may vary depending upon the individual and their level of expertise. This type of energy transfer is sometimes referred to as 'metabolized energy' because it is 'collected' by the practitioner and sent to the client. When the transfer period is over the practitioner has no further connection to the energy source beyond their normal state.

Reiki is one form of energy transfer but with an important difference: one is connected to a high energy source via a channel which is formed in the student, by the Reiki Master. Channeled energy is different from metabolized energy in that the practitioner is always connected to Source via a channel. This allows the transfer of large amounts of healing energy from Source to client, but without any loss of energy in the practitioner. It is therefore very safe in the hands of inexperienced people. Reiki does not actually require 'learning' as such; rather one is simply 'connected' to the energy source, thus it is remarkably easy to use. Second Degree Reiki provides easy instruction in distant healing and all students see immediate results.

Mantra meditation is a great enhancer of Kundalini energy and of clearing the chakras, thus enhancing overall health. Regular daily practice of this simple, effortless technique enables one to realize their strengths and challenges, and to see positive changes in all aspects of their lives. Chronological aging slows markedly, stress levels decrease, ability to focus one's mind improves, and overall health becomes better.

Yoga offers the body an easy way to align itself by opening and energizing the meridians bringing in deeper levels of rest. When the body is deeply rested health is more likely to be regained. Yoga affords great levels of inner peace and physical flexibility.

Advanced healing techniques cover such topics as spirit release, psychic surgery, clearing, entity and cord removal, extraction, soul retrieval, psychic self-defense, shamanism, and so on. When one has a serious energy problem in their environment or within themselves, they may require more than simple healing techniques. Spirit possession, poltergeist activity, and ghost intrusion all require the skills of a specialist in the safe removal of the offending force. Soul retrieval is done by a shaman to bring back soul essence which has left an individual, generally due to severe trauma or abuse. Results can be spectacular. Psychic protection is the ability to shield one's energy field from intrusive or offending energies.

Chakras are energy vortexes within our subtle body (astral body). There are seven primary chakras, each one corresponding to a major endocrine gland. Overall however, there are hundreds of chakras throughout our energy body and each serves a purpose of bringing in prana (vital force) and expelling toxic waste in the form of diseased energy. Though most people cannot see these vortices they may be worked upon by a skilled healer, in an attempt to bring about better health. Kundalini energy courses through the body of a spiritual adept, awakening and opening the chakras.

Practitioners who have clairvoyance or intuitive knowledge may call upon the help of angels in their healing work. These angelic beings exist on other dimensions beyond our generally perceived third dimension, hence they are not always visible to the casual observer. Whether or not one may see them does not preclude their existence however, so we may all call upon them for guidance, healing, strength, and wisdom. The first time you see one is a momentous occasion!

Psychological, attitudinal, and healing behavioral comes from knowing ourselves better. This can come through much self-reflection, therapy, inner-child workshops, and astrological counseling, to name a few. When we understand our unique patterns and our reasons for reacting to a situation, we are much better equipped to re-program ourselves in a more positive direction.

Healing comes in many forms. One may choose anything from actual surgery to the simple science of Feng Shui in an attempt to have wellness be a part of their lives. The choices are many, yet ultimately the choice is ours. I wish you well on your journey into better health and healing.
