Releasing Stress

This article is based on over 3 decades of mantra meditation techniques, including the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, and participation in intensive global peace meditation courses designed to allow the mind, body, and emotions to release lifetimes of accumulated stress.  I have spent months at a time in a residence setting--through India, Yugoslavia, Canada, and the United States--where I arose before dawn, did 8 hours of mantra meditation, had lunch, and then repeated the process again before dinner.  This is not something one can do in activity, for the amount of stress- release is enormous, and it would be difficult to work and concentrate.  But in a secure environment it purges lifetimes of stress.  The result-- is a healthier mind and body, self-awareness, and a lot less issues than before one started.   Throughout  these courses I observed first-hand how people release stress.  It is a unique process that I will describe.

WHAT is the difference between incurring stress, and releasing stress?  We pick up stress every day, through rush hour, noise pollution, bosses, employees, children, spouses, personal and global calamities, money problems, in-laws, divorces, births, deaths, and neighbors.  In addition, many people have sustained childhood or adult abuse that has left deep emotional scars.  Picking up stress--and holding onto it--is easy!  Releasing it takes a serious commitment and special techniques.

WHY bother to release that accumulation of stress?  Because if you hang onto it, it blocks potential, causes physical and emotional pain, and generates a lot of emotional attitudes like anger, irritation, annoyance, depression, lust, greed, grief, and sadness.

All attitudes originate from accumulated stress held deep within the individual.  They are not sent from other people.  They can certainly be triggered by other people's innocent comments, but nobody 'makes you angry'.  People react angrily because they have unresolved anger issues within them.  Just because the original stress or trauma is in the past does not mean the emotional attitudes and scars are gone.  No, they are alive and well, and they exert their influence upon the individual's life every day.  Worse yet, they exert their influence upon other people around them.  The stressed individual feels weighed down, and indeed they are!  They cannot enjoy their life to the fullest, they inflict upon, project onto, and blame others for their own issues, and they are lost in a sea of their own emotions.  Bad behavior often results from holding on to emotional baggage, thus contributing to arguments and long-standing grievances.  These old issues have substance and are clearly visible in the aura to a clairvoyant.  Light colors indicate less emotional baggage.  See the difference?

THINK of stress-releasing as you would house-cleaning.  You would not allow dust, dirt, and garbage to pile up in your home.  No, you would take the time and effort to vacuum, clean drapes, wash dishes, sweep floors, and so on.  You would not throw sheets over it all!  Nor would you spray it with disinfectant and expect that to make it all go away.  That is how it is with our mind and emotions.  We need to remove the stresses--do a thorough house cleaning--if we are to have a happy and clean 'home' in which to dwell.  Medicating, surgically removing, denying, or ignoring our ailments is not the answer to peace and harmony within. *

HOW do you begin the process of releasing stress?  First you need to have--or develop--a strong spirit, i.e. a willingness to do the inner work involved in releasing.  It is not easy to clean up one's act, for people inherently tend to justify their bad attitudes or project them onto other people, thus denying they have any issues at all.  Next, you need a technique that has the power to dislodge the accumulated stresses.  Mantra meditation is a superior technique.  Reiki can be helpful but it is not generally as powerful as meditation.  Tachyon products, which draw in enormous amounts of vital force, seem to be the quickest and easiest, in my experience.

Releasing stress is not like taking a pill, which numbs sensations and hides the source issue.  When surface pain is medicated or tranquilized away the source issue merely moves to another location in the body, often deeper into vital organs.  It does not go away.  In time one can find themselves with many health or emotional problems simply because they were not aware that they needed to release the original stresses.

It takes energy--vital force--to facilitate the release of stress.  The amount of energy required depends partly on the individual's temperament, because many people hold tightly to their pain, often not even knowing they carry it.  They may even fear releasing it because they have 'become friends' with their issues.  Then there are other people who want to control their entire environment, including those around them.  When that person is faced with letting go, they may resist because they fear they are losing control.

WHEN should you start this house-cleaning?  Now.  It is never too late to begin healing the past.  Make a decision that you want to be a better person, a healthy person, and a happier person.  Do not be satisfied with mediocrity.  Do not accept that pain and emotional dis-ease are a necessary part of life.

WHO should begin this process?  Ideally, everyone!  There is not a single person on the planet who cannot benefit enormously by starting the process of clearing out their stress.  Anyone who has sustained severe physical or emotional trauma will experience much from this, for they will develop a new lease on life.  Anyone who feels overwhelmed with life's challenges will be helped tremendously.  Those who have been victimized will grow into their own power by releasing old patterns.

THE RELEASE PROCESS.  What has gone in must come out... and it takes time.  A lifetime--or lifetimes--of stress can take almost as long to release  as it took to go in.  But the difference is that as stress comes into someone they feel worse; as it comes out they begin to feel better.  The initial stages of stress-release, however, can be difficult for some people.  If they are new at the process they may fear what is happening.  When an old physical or emotional pain is coming out they may feel that pain briefly as it leaves.  The amount of pain they have sustained from others, or even from neglecting their own body's needs, is proportional to the amount of pain they will feel at the release.  If they have emotional issues that need healing, then those will come to the surface for observation and release.  Now, this is the point of reckoning!  When issues around anger and violence start coming out, some people will be quite startled to see 'what they are made of' and may inflict their angry emotions on others.  They may also try to deny the process by saying 'I've already dealt with that'.  But obviously they have not.

In time, and with practice, it is easy to release stress with grace.  Some people will prefer a quiet environment on days when their psyche is 'housecleaning'.  Others may prefer to be with friends.  The process goes on indefinitely, yet it becomes easier to handle because the person has dumped a lot of ego in the process (stress-release is a humbling experience) and they do not feel defensive.  On the other hand, there are people who release stress very smoothly with barely a ripple in their environment.

WHERE do you find the techniques and products required?  All large cities have at least one metaphysical book store, and they are great places to find a listing of holistic practitioners.  If one cannot get to a big city, try surfing the Internet for people near your area.  Mantra meditation is best taught in person because people generally have a lot of questions about the process.  Reiki is available online, including at this site, and its effects are good, though slower.  Tachyon products are available online.
